Memories--Winter Shawl with Pin

A wide and cozy-warm winter shawl with a hand carved wooden pin (made by my dear husband!), with beautiful blue buttons made by Ceramics Tocoton in Osaka. The shawl is woven from Belgian cotton, wool, silk, camel, Italian silk, and wool from my own prefecture of Nara, all on a cotton warp. The inlays are blue wool, antique American quilt remnants, and cotton from my cotton plants in my garden.

The shawl commemorates the lives that are entwined in our own and the memories that hold us when they are gone. It's a celebration and a mourning, joy and hope.
